What could cause video distortion thru my av receiver when both front speakers are plugged in?

a/v signal goes through my Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 hd box into my Kenwood a/v receiver(160w x 6 channels) and into my Toshiba hd projection tv. When both front speakers are conected(JBL L100s) the video gets distorted as sound output increases. If either left or right front speaker is disconnected, no distoriton. Please offer any ideas. thanks

Why would you route video through the receiver? Not enough inputs on the tv? I'd get a separate video switcher if that is the case: receivers are cheap and do a cheap job.

The fewer connections, the better. has someone cranked it up so loud ,that it might of cracked or blew the speakers I suggest that you try resetting the receiver by disconnecting the power cable, holding down the power button, and plug it back in. If this does not solve the problem, there is womething wrong with the receiver. You can find a Kenwood service center here:

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/dealerlocator/... Perhaps the speakers are NOT video shielded and they are too close to the TV. This would definitely cause video distortion from the speaker's magnets.

If you have the space, move the front speakers further away from the TV until the distortion goes away. Or, replace these speakers with video shielded speakers (or if you are comfortable with taking out the drivers in your speakers, you can add a magnet to the magnets of the woofers and midrange drivers which would cancel out the magnetic interference to the TV -tweeters don't have that strong of magnets to make a difference).
