What DVD Player would you recommend for up-scaling standard definition DVDs to High Definition?
I currently use a Sony DVP-NS999ES for standard definition DVD playback, a Sharp XV-Z2000 DLP Projector, and a 106" Da-Lite Screen. The performance of the Sony is quite exceptional. I am anxious to purchase a HD DVD Players, and I am fairly sure that I will no go with Blu-Ray, so I am trying to determine if I should buy an HD DVD Player just for playing HD DVD,s, and then another unit for upscaling standard definition DVD,s to 1080i or 720p. I am anticipating that the difference will be more significant with a 106" screen that on a 40 or 50 inch plasma tv.

As a video tech, i like Toshiba's products the best. They last longer, and are a bit more rugged. Try the Toshiba SD-4980, it is inexpensive and Toshiba makes one hell of a product. By the way, nice projector. You need to check what kind of input and outputs you have on your DVD player and your TV.
Unless you have an ancient TV, it should have a S-Video input, which in quality is just below the 'component' type. It is a little round connector with a bunch of pins (I think 5 plus the plastic key).
If your TV doesn't even have that, you may have a 'composite video' connector. This is the lowest quality, but it is still better than connecting to the coaxial antenna connector (which is the only one that also accommodates the sound as well).
All the other mentioned video through-puts, need separate stereo audio cables. Usually red for right and white for left. Those cables that have three (an additional yellow connector) that is for (composite) video.
