Timer Switches?
Do timer switches save money or do they consume as much electric as a appliance on stand by?
Do the "pin" ones consume more energy than the digital ones?
Answer:
Think about how they are working....they are simply a loop that is not connected...they use no power except to keep the clock turning...the only time they use power is when the appliance actually turns on.
They don't give an ounce of power to appliance until the loop is complete. I'm not an electric expert, but I would say that they basically override the switch beside the plug socket, so when the appliance is off, it is NOT on standby.
The different sorts of timers work in the same way, the only difference is that the digital ones have a built in battery (that recharges when the electric is on) to control the settings, whereas the pin sort just use an on/off switch mechanism think in terms of how much money they would save you if you got burgled they are a worth while investment
