Should I buy a warranty for my 42" LG Plasma. If so should I choose Circuit City or a random se

My TV will be installed on Friday, Jan 12, 2007 by Circuit City. Just looking for some advice as to whether the warranties out there are worth spending the money on or not. It is the 42” LG plasma.

Yes, it's worth the peace of mind. Because if there is a problem with the set, you won't have to come up with the mega dollars to fix it.

If you consider where and when the tv is used and likely problems that could occur given those situations and if your contract would cover it then I'd say good idea to get it. Example if the tv is covered for an image problem and you've got the tv on all the time, good idea. If you're rarely home watching tv maybe not so much an issue. It all depends on the faith you have in the mfg. of the tv as well ............ good luck, still waiting on mine! The 42" LG has a problem with image stick or retention, I would take the Warranty...you will use it The retailers offer warranties which are administred by third party companies. Avoid the retail mark up on these warranties by buying them directly. The mark up is often 50% or MORE!

The most common problem with plasmas is a power supply failure. Most issues occur within the first 20 hours of use.

The bulk of repair cost and pain is in getting your 85lb fragile and awkward display to the repair center. Get a in-home service plan if any. Since it is a Plasma, yea, you better, you more than likely have problems with it in the future, one out of every 10 leaks the gas that gives you ythis picture and also, you may suffer screen burn. Read what the warrantee covers and ask the sales person to tell you exactly what it covers.P.S. Should hace bought a rear projection TV.
