PS2 and digital optical cable for digital surround sound?
I have a ps2, and a Logitech z5500 dolby digital DTS capable sound system. My hope is to hook up my ps2 to my stereo - but I want to have a digital connection so that when I watch movies on it, I get the digital effect. My question is, the back of the ps2 has a digital output on the back of it - will any generic digital audio optical cord work? And will the Ps2 support Dolby Digital 5.1 surround for dvd's? Please help me!

yes a generic optical cable - sony PS2 uses toslink style (the most common available even at walmart)
I have hooked this up and used it to watch movies in 5.1 on my home theater system
works great - look around you can even get an inexpensive remote control for your ps2 with all the funciton buttons required.
dont forget to check your settings on your ps2 and your receiver so that both are setup to work through the optical cable
