How do i hook up my car speakers and amp to my computer?
I have two Pioneer 5-way 6x9's and a Dual 460 watt amp. I don't want to spend the money to get a whole stereo for my new place. Especially since i usually just pipe music from my computer. I understand that the amp is meant to run off 12 volt DC. what kind of equipment do i need and roughly how much would it cost me to use the amp/speakers i already have and convert them to a home stereo system linked to my computer??

you do not do this for the reasons already stated. You would need a 12v converter first of all and a balanced set of RCA cables [not the generic 3 dollar pair from Wal-Mart]. You'll also need somewhere to ground your amp, but most likely, there will be a connection for grounding on your converter.
Other than that, you'll need to make sure that your speakers are shielded, so that they dont ruin your computer [this is the main reason why you DONT use car equip on a computer]
All in all, it's probably cheaper and more convenient to just pay for the home sound system. It can be done, but there will be some trouble involved and after all that trouble, you may ask yourself "Why dont I just buy a home sound system?"
