It looks like you cannot connect external speakers, because there is no "external speaker" output. Very few TVs have such outputs. If you want two-channel output, or Dolby Pro Logic, you can connect an amplifier or receiver to the set's audio outputs (L & R), and of course then you would connect the speakers to the speaker outputs of that amp/receiver. rca.com
