How can I use headphones on my new TV?

My new TV is an LG Plasma with input sockets of every type,

but the only audio output is what the manual calls a

TV Digital Audio(Optical) Output Port. There is no headphone jackplug or red/white output socket. I've asked in electrical shops about some sort of converter, but nothing suitable seems to exist.

As I live in a bedsit, I can't just whack up the volume and I don't want to have to buy an audio system just to be able to use headphones!

Any ideas, anyone?

which LG model? I can't be sure to help you correctly without a proper model number. Here is my take on what you need.

There is a AV out on all the models, check your owners manual for the proper hookup. You most likely will have to make a settings change in the menu to make this work properly.

Let me know exactly which model you have and I will walk you thru it. There's a new gadget for that, why don't you try wireless headphones.

Good luck :) If there are no headphone or Audio outputs on your TV, You could still get the Audio output from a free SCART socket:

PIN 1 = Audio Output Right

PIN 3 = Audio Output Left

PIN 4 = Audio Ground

SCART to PHONO (RCA) adapters are Easy to get hold of The Red and White Phono will give you TTL Audio the Yellow Phono is CVBS (Video). if flapjack is right - which seems likely(i've never seen a tv that doesn't have SOME sort of analogue output that would be easy to wire up to headphones) then follow his advice...if there realyy isn't anything but the digital output you're gonna need a Digital/Analogue Convertor(DAC) and i don't know many cheap ways of doing that...AND you'll want one with a headphoone output too huh?
