How can I project an image onto Glass?

I saw this done at a bridal show, and wish to do it at my wedding reception. The glass was sandblasted on the back and the projector showed a wedding video on it. I already own a projector. But what would the dimensions for the glass be? How thick, ect? I'm looking into a 42' screen. Also how much would something like this cost? Thanks for all your help!

Just get a piece of glass the right size, (thickness will only matter in determining how and where you will place it. If it's safely secure and out of the way, thinner glass will be fine, otherwise, the more likely it is to be moved or bumped, the thicker I would recommend it be.) and use a chemical etching compound that you should be able to find at most any craft store. Usually you would apply it to the glass after you have cleaned it thoroughly, and then you wait for 20 minutes or so for the chemical to etch the glass in much the same way as sandblasting (but without the added costs). Then be sure your projector is capable of delivering the image in the size and shape you are after. The glass will cost whatever you pay, depending on what your source is, but shouldn't be more than $20-50. The etching chemical is about $8 per bottle, and 2-3 bottles should be enough.

Good luck, and congrats on the pending nuptials! like Jawa said for the glass, shouldn't cost to much, the projector on the other hand, is a very different issue i use projectors for dedicated home theater rooms, where there is very little light. a projector that you would need to do this and still have a desent image, assuming you are going to have some lights on in the building, would be at least $10,000 or more for the projector alone- Projectors require a lot of light to project images and I have never used any screen bigger than 100" and do not recomend that you go any bigger than this-42' is a huge distance and not to much but a professional series projector will be sufficient enough for this and even those will require the lights be dimmed, and you will end up with the projector almost 30 ft, and will have to consider yourself very lucky to get it to fill the glass

I would recomend something around 50" at the most, not knowing what kind of projector you have also would change this and take out all of the light bulbs near the screen(glass) to reduce the effect of the light on it. (any bigger and you will have to take over dining space-a great way to get rid of old aquaintances/uncles/aunts if you feel the need to)
