How Do I Connect My LG Dvd Home Cinema System To Work With Sky?? I Have Only Got It To Work On Dvds.

I have an LG plasma television the model is a 50PC1D. I have recently bought an LG HT552TH 500w HDMI DVD Home Cinema System. I have followed the instructions carefully and have managed to use my surround sound on dvds but it wont work with sky. Is there an input on my television which enables surround sound to work or is there a special cable or something that will make it work?? Any suggestions?

if you have the normal sky box, then all you can use is the phono connections ( red / white ) from that into your HCS, or use the phono connections from your tv into the HCS. This will only give you 2.1 ( front speakers to work.

If you have sky+ and you HCS has an opticial connection then use that. This will give you 5.1 ( all speakers )

I'm not 100%, but doesn't your tv have an opiticial output, if yoyr HCS has the opticdial input this is the BEST connection to use.

wg I'm unsure about your connections on your dvd etc.but my surround sound is connected to my cinema system aswell as my tv and cable box.check all your equipment for a spare connection such as rca,s-video,scart etc.hopefully you will just need to buy a cable of some sort to attach the two together,if not then you will need to get hold of a friend that is good with all that stuff :) Unless there is a separate input on the DVD system you wont be able to use the 5:1. A quick search of the product ref you have given shows it to be a DVD system more than an amplifier with inputs (optical or phono).

Look on the back of your DVD system for a phono input or more importantly an optical connection, a small flap in the shape of a half circle. you should have audio out connection on the back of your sky box and audio in on the dvd system. connect using audio cables red/white. then set your system to aux and voila your sky sound should be coming through your speakers
