Does an hd projector look like or better that an lcd or plasma tv?

I have a High Defintion projector and love it! I am blown away by the amazing picture quality and the SIZE totally immerses me into the images.

I have a Mitsubishi HC3000U 720p 16:9 native projector and a Tribal Projector Screen. Check out these two options for incredible video. My friend has an HD projector with a 110 inch screen that BLOWS AWAY any TV I have seen. HD looks just incredible on it.

I have a much less expensive projector then he does (only 720p with an 85 inch screen) and I wouldnt give it up for any tv on the market. If you set it up right, yes it should look more right in terms of contrast and color rendition.

But nothing beats "see for yourself" rules. I have a 50" Elite plasma and a Sony Cineza projector with 100" Stewart Firehawk screen. There is no doubt the projector provides an excellent picture, especially at 1080 resolution. However, the decision on which to get is going to depend on your room. You must have low lighting to get the best picture whereas a plasma or lcd will provide a better picture in ambient light.

If you can dedicate a room to home theater, get the projector. Otherwise get the LCD or plasma if you're going to put it in the family or living room.

Hope this helps! One other note. Although a dedicated room is ideal for a Home Theater setup it is not a necessity. Any pj between 1000 - 1500 lumens should be fine without needing total darkness.

Naturally, the darker the better, but you will still get a great picture even with enough ambient light to read by.
