Dj amplifier question for subwoofer wired for home use?

i have a 18" kicker solox subwoofer that is wired to 2-ohms and i am going to buy a dj amplifier and plug it in from the sub out port on the back of my reciever. my sub is rated at 5000 watt rms and 10000 peak. I only want to spend around $300 on an amp and i dont really need the sub at 5000watts, so i need to know if the amps on ebay rated at 1000 rms and 5000 peak would sufice and if they are grossly overrated. The amp is rated at 1000W into 2 ohms, so it should be sufficient for your needs. The listing doesn't state if this is a stereo amp, but from the picture it looks like it has two channels. It may be possible to bridge both channels to even more wattage.

Either way, you have a lot of power for a subwoofer.

Good luck! remember.. whatever your speaker is rated at RMS.. you want your amplifier the same or less that way if you turn the volume up to almost full you won't blow your speaker. if you hear distortion your amp could be clipping. I would turn the gain control on your amp to about 75%-80% so it won't peak out. if you are using the amp/speaker setup for home then you probably won't need 5000 watts but also note that most speakers that have a high rms rating won't sound good at low volume. as far as the one you saw on ebay... the price is good for an amp with those ratings. but the brand i am not familiar with. if it is considered a top brand then $300 is a very good deal. even for a cheap amp that is a good deal for the amount of output it can do
