DVD player will not recognize a DVD-R disc I burned?
I burned a wmv file to a DVD-R and my DVD player says "this type of disc cannot be displayed." However the DVD player says it supports DVD-R. Any help please.

You cant just burn a wmv file to a disc and expect your dvd player to play it. You must use the proper software to make it into the proper format to be read on a standard DVD player. The software should create .vob files and have two folders (AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS). There are however some DVD players (like Philips) that will play DIVX or various media files that are just burned to a disc and not actually 'Authored'. Watch it on your computer. Check random DVD players...some will read it, some won't. This happen all the time!! I found that some burns can NOT be read by some players. You might need to change one of them, Sorry! But try to change the software first. Does the DVD player also support wmv files? It has to say so somewhere in the manual. If it doesn't say that, then it can't play it. It can get pretty complicated.
