Can I connect my DVD player with a component output to a VGA input for my Projector?
I have a Yamaha DVD player with S-Video and Component Video outputs. My Sony Projector has both an S-Video and a VGA input. Naturally, I can put S-Video out on my DVD player to S-Video in to my projector.
Can I put Component Video outputs from my DVD player to the VGA input on my Projector. If so, would I need just a cable with an adaptor or some kind of box to convert?

Many of the projectors will accept either RGB analog or Component using the VGA connection. Check your manual and you should be fine. You can get a 3 wire to VGA cable for around $25 at any computer or hi-end electronic store. You can also use the 4 or 5 wire version but use only the Red Green and Blue cables (leave the other 2 disconnected).
If your projector only accepts RGB then you will need something to convert the component to RGB. If so ask another questions as it is a little more complicated (an expensive) but it is unlikely that you projector will not support it. What model is it? I bought this for my projector, you need this one.
