Blu-ray or HD-DVD?? Cant decide what to get.?

I am leaning towards Blu-ray, but I don't want to get screw over if HD-DVD wins the format war. Which of the two has better selection and if I should get Blu-Ray, should I just buy the PS3?

If you were planing to get a PS3 anyway then yes make it your blu ray player. This would be the prevailing way things are headed. Blu Ray stand alone players make up less PINS than HD DVD ones. Sales of Blu ray disks are also down. with HD DVD making huge leaps. But that can change overnight. Since Sony is only staying ahead by giving the player away( remember game systems are sold at cost) I think Paramount is right on supporting HD DVD. I would be interested in what Lucas film decides to support exclusively.

I agree that a fusion format or dual type player will be the answer to the "war". But given the small amount of sales these make up you will not see a clear "format war" winner for some time.

In summary get the PS3 if you like the games, but wait to get a standalone player until the screaming is over. I am hedging toward HD DVD but I won't hold my breath. I'd go ahead and just get the PS3. It has one of the better Blue Ray players even better than the stand alone.

I wouldn't worry about the format war. Both will be around for a while if not forever. I suspect we will see dual players and disks as opposed to one just going away.

weeder In my opinion Blu-ray is going to fade away and HD-DVD will be the defacto. So if I was going to buy one I would buy an HD-DVD. LG makes one that will play both.
