Here are a couple of HTIB systems (see first two links) I would consider and be sure to get the correct model number when previewing. Both of these you will need to provide a DVD player or HD DVD/ Blu ray.

Next I will recommend a system from scratch, the next two links are to a great set of speakers and a great starter receiver. (the MSRP is more than your budget but you if you look around you will be able to get a great deal). You will notice that it does not have HDMI. I say wait and get great speakers first and in a few years match to a receiver when the flux and support of HDMI calms way down, you could be out if you are not careful.

I like the Klipsch since they are more sensitive (more volume for the same amount of power 91 db) you may find them bright if paired with a Sony or Yamaha but try them out just the same. Polk or def tech are both great alternatives, but stay away from HTIBs to much compromise, it is made to be cheap and shows. you will need a HTB Home theater in a box for that price.

sound is everything, spend the money for something good. Make sure you have a receiver that can push the sound. the heavier the unit, the larger the capaciters are for releasing burst of audio during explosions and other peak audio moments.

Do not skimp on the subwoofer, especially with a big room. Try to get at least a 10" powered subwoofer. (built in amp) you don't want a system where the receiver is pushing the power for the amp.
