Are blue ray players any good as audio cd players?

thinking of upgrading a home theatre system to play blue ray dvds, at the same time would like to limit the number of boxes in the set up. So thought of using the blue ray player as cd player as well. Anybody had any issues with this kind of set up

The smart thing the standard-makers and manufacturers of Blu-Ray players did was make them all backwards compatible with all previous factory-produced disc formats.

Therefore, YES, your CDs will sound GREAT on a Blu-Ray machine. And you'll be pumping that digital audio out either optically or "coaxially" - so you really can't go wrong. In fact, there's even the chance that your older CD player used analog right and left (red and white) outputs - so you may be hearing your CDs digitally for the first time with the new Blu-Ray player (although a lot of people were already listening to their CDs on their DVD players which likely had the digital audio outputs connected - but you'd be surpirsed what I find behind a lot of system hook-ups!)
