They may but it is going to be a long wait. Take 2 Interactive has third-party exclusive publishing rights to the MLB video game license through 2012. Because Take 2 only has third-party exclusivity, console makers (Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft) can still use the MLB license. Maybe EA could work around it by developing a title but allowing one of the console makers to publish it for their own system. That seems highly unlikely though.
I think the only reason this came about was because EA bought the exclusive rights (not just third-party rights) to the NFL gaming license. That deals goes through 2010 I believe.
