wifi -bought one of these so my son could play online on his ds?

the following message keeps coming up on the ds- error code 52000 and unable to obtain ip address ??? can anyone help me and if so in simplish terms as im no pc tech

Just to add, it may be your firewall, 80% of the Wi-Fi errors are caused from a Firewall on your PC. If you have one, try lowering the security settings temporarily, or consider turning it off completely during gameplay.

If you have ZoneAlarm, the official Nintendo site says that it will not work at all with it and that it must be uninstalled, however, I simply lower my Internet Zone security status to 'Medium' before playing and it works fine.

Ok first off for the DS to get an IP address two things must occure, 1st the game has to be a WiFi compatable game, and 2nd the WiFi has to be made public, no passwords. I'm not familar with WiFi setup, but I know there is a differance between public and private. This is one of the primary reason why they included the WiFi connection in the Wii was so that you could connect your DS to a WiFi network without dealing with Public/Private DSNs, it has a built in IP assigner just for the DS. You might see if you can find a setup guide for WiFi on the internet, but making your WiFi public will give anyone with WiFi access to your connection. To test the system take the DS to a location with free WiFi (Like IHOP) and try connecting the DS (with a game like Animal Crossing) to their network, the instructions are inside the game manual and on Nintendo's WiFi website, if it wont connect its a problem with the system. hope this helps

The first thing you need to do is setup the Wi-Fi Router on your PC.

Make a SSID (your network id) this can be anything.

Now pick WEP or WPA i use WEP and make a key.

Now once its all setup put in a Wi-Fi game (Like Clubhouse Games).

And go to Wi-Fi setup and pick search for a access point

Now click the one that's yours (your network id).

Now put in your WEP or WPA key (your key)

It will test the connection to see if it works if it does you are done!
