although i have noticed in the uk most ppl dont bother to repair, it may be worth buying a cd laser home kit cleaner...them are really easy to use
otherwise its the disks you are using....

I won't buy anything other than Panasonic for video or dvd recording, it costs more because it's the best. Unfortunately, it is as some other respondents have said - they are rubbish. I bought an early Philips DVD recorder and had this problem. It was repaired after nine months. After eighteen months, same problem. It was replaced with a newer machine - a year later, same problem. I am going to cut my losses and buy another brand. I think it's the only answer.
