could i ruin the DVD- PLAYER as well as the HD-DVD DICS IF NOT PLAYED ON THE PROPER PLAYER? IN OTHER WORDS WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO THE PLAYER AND DISC?

Nothing would happen to damage either the player or the disk. It simply wouldn't work. You would get a error message or something along the lines of "disk cannot be played"
You have my word, you wont cause any damage. (unless you break either of them some other way) =) nothing it just wont be in hd the dvd will burn up due to the excessive slow speed and the cost and the copy protection
