no such thing as a blue ray burner ......not yet anyways .only blue ray is for readers for now I dunno go to an electrical store!!! Bule ray is higher quality Blue ray is new technology. It is not compatable with regular CD's. Soon you will have to buy all new equipment and discs. i believe blue ray is a completely different format. Blue Ray:

Won't affect me - I don't do anything illegal. Blu-ray & HD DVD are two new types of dvd that play/record High Definition pictures & store a lot more data than a standard DVD.
Blu-ray & HD-DVD are not compatible with each other - so I wouldn’t rush out and buy a blu-ray player yet - as there will be a battle to establish which format is the most popular - just like the war between VHS & Betamax. The compression on the blue ray is so great that the hd players can't pick it all up in order to play.The differance between that is like no antenna on a tv. That is why you should not buy unless you have a player that can handle this format. You will be able to tell them from others they are small blue jewel cases. The most important is recording density. Instead of a 4.7GB capacity you get something around 50GB. The first ever BD-50 title available to consumers will be Click, which streets on October 10.
I would advise you to wait a little, since the 50GB recording disks will be well above $30, and a std 4.7GB is $3 or less, and the drive or player/recorder price is still 10% of the new ones.
Right now Panasonic is launching in Japan the DMR-BW200 and DMR-BR100 wich besides the optical media carry a fat hard disk, and there are other technolgies that will compete with bklue ray... so the game is just starting... the differwence is that a blu-ray burner burn's blu-ray discs, they have grat qualto
