Why won't my DVD player play discs I have recorded on on recordable DVD player?

When I pput disc in it says Wrong Disc

doesnt ur recordable dvd player play dvds aswell. Not all dvd players are equipped to play DVD RW disks, try a copy cd and see if that works. You may have problems if your dvd player is older too. One thing to try would be finding the region unlock code for your dvd player or search the forums for info on your machine. if you are using dvd -r or +r make sure you finalize then after you have recorded them ,this allows you to play on all machines. RW should work on all machines..Suggest you try your dvd on another machines..some machines won't play all discs..I have this problem when I record off my SEG dvd recorder,it plays back ok on my cheapo Asda own brand dvd player but not on my Sanyo one.. certain dvds that have been recorded wont play on mine but they play on my sons dvd. Look at the type of recordable DVD disc you are using.

If you are using DVD +RW, then most, but not all, DVD players will play them.

If you are using DVD-RW, then you have to go into the menu on the DVD recorder and 'finalise' the disc first.

This should then play ok.

This will then mean that you cannot add anything to that disc until you 'format' it back in the recorder.This will then erase the recording and make it possible to use it again. either you didn't finalise the disk or it is the wrong format either + or -
