Why is comcast deleting my recordings (ie Scrubs) from my DVR after a few weeks? Is that legal?
My recordings are getting deleted automatically from my DVR from time to time. For example, I could perceive that my Scrubs recordings are deleted 2 or 3 weeks after they're made.
Not all the shows are being deleted. Gray's anatomy are never deleted, we have recordings from august on the DVR.
My DVR is always around 40-50% full. It never got to 100%.
I even got error messages when they tried to delete a show that I was watching. The message would say something like "Could not delete file". To test, I didn't delete the video from the DVR after I was done watching it, and after a few hours it was gone!!!
Is this legal? Can Comcast delete my videos legally? I don't remember signing anything saying this.

I have a comcast DVR too and I have like old Scrubs on it too but they have never deleted it. I think the problem is with the box you have. call them and tell them you need a new box. Check your settings on your DVR. You may have it set up to delete items after a specific time. Also take into consideration that DVR's work by recording shows to a built in hard drive. Since space is limited on these drives (and shows take up a lot of space), your dvr may be erasing older shows to make room for new ones.
It's not Comcast deleting your shows...it's your DVR. What are you going to do - sue Comcast?
This is a setting on the DVR. Select an old Scrubs show that you have recorded and look at your options -- you can set it to never be deleted or extend the time that it will be saved.
