Why don't more people buy DVR's like Tivo? Do they like watching the ads?

Its because they havent witnessed the magic of Tivo.
Not dvr...Tivo...Oh believe there is a difference...Really you say...Yes there is...Oh there is..Once you go tivo you never go back. I would love to buy a DVR but we can't afford it! Of course we don't like watching the ads! Well more people are buying them all the time, otherwise the companies would go out of business don't you think?
The same effect can still be achieved by using an old VCR - if you set the timer to record a program you can fast forward through the commercials when you watch it back.
The same is true of a DVD recorder - which, when you think about it, is a better investment than a DVR, because if you have a DVR you're likely to have a DVD recorder anyway, for taping stuff you want to keep.
Then there are people like myself who have Sky+ - the ability to digitally record, pause and playback TV came with my subscription package, so I don't have to go buy a DVR.
If I didn't have Sky, I'd like a DVD recorder with a hard drive to provide DVR functionality before I commit any programs to disk.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before DVRs become mainstream, possibly even built into TVs.
