What's the difference between DVD-RW and DVD-R???

DVD-R can only be written once, meaning that once you burn it to full capacity, there's no way to delete the data off it with your DVD drive. DVD-RW can be re-written many times over again, meaning you can delete some or all of the data on the disc and re-use it, pretty much like VHS tapes. DVD-RW are also more expensive than DVD-R, because of their re-writing feature. in dvd rw cd you can write any data, and delete it to rewrite some other data when ever you want to ...but in dvd R you can only write only one time until the disc is full..

so, i will be happy if you can pick me as abest answerer to congratulate me! A dvd-r means that you can only burn it once. Then it's done. a dvd-rw means you can burn that same dvd more than once. for example, you burn friends on the dvd, and then you decided that you like seinfeld better, so you can copy seinfeld over friends. the rw stands for re-write. A helpful reminder "RW" stands for "Re-Writable" and "R" stands for "Recordable." If you ask me they should have made "DVD-W" and "DVD-RW."
