What to choose? DVD/HD recorder, Sky+, TiVo?
I'd like to buy an alternative to my ancient VCR. I've heard of DVD recorders, Hard Disk recorders, Sky+ and TiVo. My parents have Sky+ and seem happy with that. I'd welcome any advice offered. Many thanks.

Sky + rocks, the HD sky has a bigger harddrive... also vigin media do a recorder and HD box but its really expencive in the long run compared to sky... id say sky + is better than a DVD recorder as you can record whatever channel, pause and rewind it live and it is MUCH better quality than your average DVD recorder.. In would go with a Hard Disk recorders because it will hold longer then a DVD recorder and it don't have any subscription fees. But DVD recorder is cheaper. I think DVD. HP Media Center PC: The way God watches TV.
Pause, rewind, fast forward live TV...WHILE recording another channel if you want to. Incredible guide listings with awesome detail. You can also see what movies are on now, and what's on next, and it displays the movie cover-picture. The same feature is there for Sports. You can see what sports events are on or are coming on soon.
THE BEST PART!: You can search by title for ANY show on TV 2 WEEKS INTO THE FUTURE!!! From there, you can chose to record the single showing, or record the entire series on a regular basis. And it's all built into your PC, so you can minimize the Media Center (TV, etc) function and browse the internet or do work on you television.
I have 2 LCD monitors at my place, so I put TV on one and do other stuff on the other, usually. sky plus has had its problems as seen on watch dog!...get a recordable dvd player, with built in freeview, much more reliable.
