Cable question?

I have time warner cable with DVR. I taped some shows last night and went to watch them this morning and everytime I hit 'list' the list of shows will come up for a few seconds and then disappear. I then turned the t.v off and let it sit for a few hours and tried again and the same thing happened. Any ideas on how to fix this or what the problem could be? I don't want to loose the shows I have taped and I would like to watch them.

the problem is with the dvr box not the t.v. try unplugging the boxes power and plugging that in. if that doesn't help it may be a defective box :( Call the cable company. They will have someone who can troubleshoot the issue with you for free. It could be as simple as re-setting the box. Good luck! Time for the menus is controlled by a setting in the SETTINGS part of the cable box so hit the SETTINGS button and set the menus to stay on longer. Your cable company can help with this. And yes, it can be a defective box or a box that needs to be reset (rebooted) by unplugging it or holding the power button in until it says BOOT on the display. Booting the box or unplugging it only destroys material being recorded now. It does not delete existing recordings. Do this first BEFORE you return the box. If you return the box you will LOSE all your recordings on it. First thing you can do is unplug the box wait a few minutes and then plug it back in, this will power cycle the box, retake a hit from the cable company and if any updates are in order it will take those as well.

Second if that doesn't help call the company they will send out a trouble call for you...I can tell you what they will do right now though. They will come in, take signal readings, reboot the box, call dispatch to send new hits, and if it doesn't fix it they will swap out the box cause it is more then likely a hard drive error.
