About Directv with dvr?

I have directv with dvr and my husband forgot to pay the bill and it got turned off. Well, the next day when we had it turned back on it will only let us record one show at a time rather than two like it used to. I have went through the manual and tried to figure it out without any success. Does anyone know how to fix it?

First thing.make sure you arent already recording something else. If you are definitely not able to record 1 and watch another show.open the flip down door on the front right and press the red reset button. After the receiver loads back up try it again. If its still not working, take the cables off the satellite in 1 and 2 on the back of the dvr, follow the cable to the wall, make sure any connectors are twisted together tight. Reattch the sat-in 1 and 2...but switch the cables. Put the one that was on 1 onto the 2, and the one that was on 2 in 1. If still not able to record 2 things, press the red reset button again. If still not able...call directv. A possible issue could be that somehow the DVR is now not configured correctly for receiving from both coaxial cables. To check this/ fix this hit the DirecTV button, go to Messages and Setup, Go to or find Satellite, go to Settings and rerun the setup. You should see when the software is running that it will ask you what type of dish you have a 2LNB round dish or a 3 Lnb oval dish. Pick which dish type you have. Next it will ask you how many Lines are connected 1 or 2. Pick 2 lines. Now it will try to access both lines during its setup. It will have you check to make sure that you are getting a signal on all the channels 1-32 if I remember correctly (Now when I say channels I do not mean the channels you receive but each Coaxial line will have even and odd numbers which actually receive different TV Channels.) Scroll through all of them (Or some of them randomly) and check to make sure you are getting a signal to ODD and EVEN signals. Follow the prompts and it will finally say finished and Both Tuners should be turned on and receiving.

Now I am not 100% sure if your DirecTV DVR will have the same exact names for the pages you scroll through since I am basing my experience on DirecTV Tivo DVR's.

Now if none of these fixes the issue then unplug the DVR from the power cable connected to it on the back for 10-15 seconds and plug it back in. If will automatically go through all of this setup again and usually corrects itself. This is how the DirecTV boxes reset themselves.
