witch is better 5x zoom or higher?

I want to go to a wrestling show and need to know witch optical zoom would best fit my needs. It is kind of dark in there too. thanks

It really depends on your seats....if you are relatively close the 5X would be OK.....

And I also agree to NOT get caught up in digital zoom. These are just buzz numbers to make the camera sound better than it is. Stay with a true optical zoom. Image stabilization would be nice but it comes at a cost. (not cheap)

As far as low light.....let me say that light in an arena situation can be tough to deal with but if the event is televised you should have pretty decent light. Like at concerts the area around the stage is very dark but the performer has a spot light trained on them the entire show. This really fools a camera's meter causing you to over expose the performer. (The camera is trying to get enough light for a correct reading of the entire sensor.....all that black screams at the meter saying "I need more light...I need more light." So the camera slows the shutter down or opens the aperture up....causing the over-exposure of the performer. And the small flash in the camera used from row ZZ near the top of the stadium is a waste of battery. It's only good for about 12 feet so you'll get nice exposure of the backs of heads in front of you.

If you can...from your seat....turn off the flash....if you can brace yourself against a pole or railing hold the camera with both hands, zoom into the action (remember using a camera's zoom will exaggerate any movement or shake), try to get close enough that you fill the frame with the brightest area of the scene (this will help the meter expose correctly) and squeeze the shutter release...don't punch the button. With a 5 of 6 meg camera you should be able to crop the image to get even closer to the subject. If you camera has the ability to display a "histogram" it will tell you if the exposure is correct.
