I took great images with my 3mp camera that I was able to print up to 11x14, although admittably I was pushing the image to its limits.
So I can therefore say with confidence you can print more than 8x10, and 11x14, I would say you can even do 16x20, and probably go higher depending on the image and how you resize it.
If you have to resize it, resize up by 10% increments, and don't over do it. Sharpen once done.
Perhaps the other answers are based on keeping your pixel reolution at 300dpi. This is great when you have it, but I've been able to print acceptable images down to 150 dpi.
Try some large prints out. If you like the results, run with it.
