It is really very difficult, electronically speaking, for the battery icon to display the exact battery life of your battery accurately at any given time. It is done trough a sensor that measures voltage and the voltage can change from one moment to the next.
Do not trust 100% this function as though it was a bible! If possible, you are better off measuring the battery life with a voltimeter before using them...
AND always have an extra set of batteries to make sure you don′t run out when most needed.
