Why do i get a huge black dot on my digital photographs ?

Whenever i take a photograph with my digital camera , i get a black dot in the same place on the photo almost every time.

Can anyone explain why this happens and sugest a way of preventing it ? ..

First, let me guess... you can remove the lens on your camera. If so, then you got dirt inside. You probably can't clean it, but will have to send it out to get FIXED. Unfortunately, the more that you remove the lens, the more likely that you will have to get your camera cleaned.

If your lens is NOT removable, then I would suspect that your CCD array has gone bad.

Camera repair is expensive, so you might get a quote, then consider buying a new one.

If you want an awesome SLR type Digital camera, then get a Canon. That is what more professionals use.

If you want something GOOD and CHEAP, I like the Nikon Coolpix L1 for about $225. Either dirt on the lens or a bad place on the Charge Coupled Device. Clean the lens,

Probably a pice af cak on it somwhere. Take your camera to be cleaned. If it's always in the same place, it has to be dirt. My first thought is the lens. Is it clean? Does it have a defect? Another possibilty would be that your image sensor has dead pixels. Any of those would make a spot in the same place every time. Hopefully, you just have shmutz on your lens that needs cleaning off. If it's a defective lens or sensor, that's going to be painful to the wallet, unless the camera is still under warranty. it sounds like you have some dirt inside the lens, don't know how you could get rid of it though. It sounds like it could be dust or some foreign matter on your ccd. If you have a sealed digital camera (i.e. not a DSLR), there's little you can do other than send it back for repair. It would be helpful to know the brand and model number of your camera and how old it is. From the limited information I suspect a CCD failure. It's possible you've had a camera flash while you've been filming and burnt out a part of the sensing system.I had it happen to me but mine was only a small spot but it ruined the camera take the lens cap off or move your finger. picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.
