Why didn't Nikon include image stabilization in the D80?

It's a tricky and difficult technology to do the ccd shift that Minolta developed. I'm not sure how Pentax is doing it on their new K100D. But, the method is probably patented as well.
Frankly- other companies have better engineering. VR (vibration reduction as nikon calls it) is only used in nikon's lenses. not even d2xs is equipped with vr function on the camera. Image stabilization is in the lenses, not the dSLR's. You can buy stabilized lenses for the D80 (but pretty expensive).
Good Luck Nikon has no patent/technology for CCD stabilization. They would have to buy it off someone (probably Sony, 'cause the use a SOny CCD) but I don't see them doing it soon otherwisxe they would alienate all the VR lens users out there Hi, I recommand you to try google picasa.
picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.
