The A620 is just the big brother to the A610. The only noticable difference is the effective mega pixels. They both run on the efficent Digic ii processsor and they pretty much have the same shooting modes, so with the A620 your getting a better feel for what the DIGIC II processor can do. It's pretty fast. And with 5 MP your not getting a representation as what it can show at 7.1MP.
And please whatever you do, don't get lithium-ion battery packs (not for this camera because it doesn't take them, for good) Lithium ion battery packs are a big waste of money. They are extremely risky. The slightest overcharge on those things could cost you because they tend to leak or blow out if overcharged. NiMh batteries on the other hand can be overcharged and there is an extremely low risk of them busting or going kaplooey on you.
The Canon Powershot A610 and A620 are identical when you look at them in terms of shape structure and capabilities, but the only difference is megapixels. So to answer your question,
The A620.
But in terms of price, the A610.
