Which is best as a point and shoot camera? Nikon P4 or Canon A620?

This is my first digital camera and I am confused between Nikon P4 and Canon A620. I want a compact camera which I can carry around anywhere with a little bit of extra features. I've read few reviews on both Canon and the Nikon camera's and though by far Canon seems to outweigh the review charts, it's a little bulkier for my needs. Though it's an inconvenience that can be overlooked, I really like the P4 too. Please help me in making the choice by sharing your experience and opinion!

Yeah, the users really liked the P4 a lot more than the professional reviewer. By the way, to find out about the P4, you actually have to click the link to the review of the P3, which is the same camera with WiFi. I don't know... I find it hard to believe that the P4 is so slow to take pictures. It makes me wonder what speed card they were using in the test. In any camera over 3-4 MP, you really ought to have a high speed card. My daughter has a "lowly" 2 MP camera (older cast-off Nikon CoolPix 775) and she recently got a faster memory card for it. She said that it absolutely transformed her camera and now she's almost sorry she ordered a new one. Almost.

I can't help you much, because I decided that, if I was in the market for a P&S, I'd probably consider buying the Nikon P4. It's quite similar to the 5400 I have. I'm not sure if I could really do without the eye-level viewfinder, though. There are times when you just can't see an image on an LCD or dont' want to look like a photo-geek holding the camera out in front of you like that. Vibration reduction is a "for real" feature that's hard to overlook. I have a Nikon VR lens and it's awesome. I'm sure the P&S does not handle the VR the same way, but if Nikon is going to put that VR mark on the camera, it must be good for something.
