How many Mega-Pixels do our eyes have?

As far as I know, we dont see in pixels.

A tv or digital picture is in pixels. A pixel is a block of color. A bunch of blocks of colors are positioned to form a picture. This is done so the picture can be transfered and then reproduced on a tv, computer, or printed picture.

We see objects as they are and the color is what it is. It is not broken down into pixels like with digital technology. The eye is not constructed in that form. Rather, we do have something called "Circles of Confusion" which is a way of measuring how much we can visually resolve before the image becomes nothing but a bunch of very small, soft, blurry circles (based upon the round shape of our pupils and lenses). Beyond that, our vision is also limited by the size of the cells in our optic nerve, which are truly microscopic. The human eye has photo sensors in the retina. These are of two types: rods (sensitive to luminance but gives a "monochrome output") and cones (less sensitive but give "colour output").

If you can count the total number of sensors you'll get a very rough approximation of relative resolution (approx 126 million pixels).

As with most things biological, the eye does not work exactly the same as a digital camera. The brain can create an image to 'fill in' gaps where the rods and cones don't provide enough resolution. This is itself an approximation but our brains learn so it gets better at the guesses as you get older.
