whats the difference between a vga and a mega pixie camera?

VGA refers to one particular format for a picture: 640 x 480 pixels. A pixel is 1 picture element. To get the total pixels, just multiply those numbers. A megapixel camera will take pictures with more than 1 million pixels. More pixels mean better definition, but larger files. For internet use, a picture is reduced to about 320 x 240 anyway. The 320 x 240 format is often called QVGA. i can't remember what vga stands for, but the photo quality is significantly lower than the megapixel camera. They usually cost less, and are frequently found on cell phones. Lately, they've been putting megapixel cameras on cell phones but thats off-topic.

I'd suggest a Canon Powershot camera if you're looking for a digital one that takes still pix and some short video shots. If you're looking for a camcorder, i'm not as experienced in that area, but do ur homework! Well if you're after a camera phone get one with the most megapixels you can get. Some of the newer camera phones have 2.0 to 3.0 megapixels (2-3 million pixels)

And VGA is only 640X480 which is just 0.3 megapixels (300,000 pixels).
