I'm confused! HARD DRIVE! NO Cd's TO CARRY AROUND CAN RECORD IN HIGH DEF. I JUST RECOMMEND TO GET THE LARGEST HARD DRIVE WE TOOK OURS ON A TRIP TO TRINADAD TO STUDY THE SEA TURTLES. IT WAS GREAT NOTHING EXTRA TO LUG A =ROUND BUT THE CORD TO RECHARGE THE BATTERIES It depends on what you want to do with the video once it's recorded. If you want to download into your computer and do some editing, then go for the hard drive. The dvd will require a firewire to download.
I just bought the hard drive and so far I like it. paid around $650.00 Go for the sony Hard Dr.It has a lot more storage with less hassle than dvd.Easier image transfer to your computer and i find much clearer crisper video.Hope this helps.
