What's best video camera type High 8 tape, DVD, or built in hard drive? Any brand suggestions? T

so in luv is correct. however, there are a few other key points that should be made b/c i just had this conversation w/ my tech buddy monday. dv is the best b/c tapes such as hi-8 or hi def tapes capture a better image in a better format similar to albums vs. cd's. i have a sony dcr-520 dig 8 and hadn't used it in months right? then comes the kid's xmas play, we have no tapes, not charged, night before play, and me the smart guy goes out and buys the new sony hdd/hard drive 30gb model for 5something and i just found it aint as good as my 5-6yr old model.

so to recap, talk to someone you can trust, budget, and then, will it be used for business purposes or something different? then, know that sony isn't necessarily the best always and as one further example, i figured i could connect my newest camcorder directly to my mac but no, it requires inbetweenware for $75!!

and last, one needs at the very least a way to transfer said video to dvd, which if you have a new pc it probably has an internal dvd burner.

moe I think DV mini tapes are best. It depends on how much money you want to spend and how you are going to use it. If you are planning on putting the videos on to the computer anyways, I would save some cash and buy the DV one. Those are the ones that take the tapes. They have better quality videos than the DVD ones and you don't have to worry about finalizing the disc to play it in DVD players. Instead down load the videos on your computer from the camera (DV) then burn as many as you would like. The harddrive ones are nice but cost a whole bunch more a good one is around $700 or $800. Sony and Cannon are the only two brands that I would use.
