What's a good digital camera?

I'm looking for a good digital camera that'll take high quality pictures AND let me take movies. And not those short movies but it'll convert to a movie digital recorder.

And I need one that's a very good price because I'm broke.

I have a really tiny little Casio that takes good pictures and movies too. It's really small and easy to take anywhere and I'm happy with it. Fuji makes good digital cameras in a wide range of prices. I have a 2-3 year old Kodak and I swear it is the best camera I've ever had. It takes movies and the pictures are really good, and when you print them out on the printer it is almost like they were film. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 My rule of thumb with ANY electronics is this: Never buy the latest and greatest. The reason being is that it will be outdated the minute you walk out of the store. Now that isn't to be confused with buying the best brand. Certainly some manufacturers are better at making cameras that others.

If I were you, I would stick with a good brand. My personal favorites are Canon and Nikon. I personally own a camera from the Nikon Coolpix line and it's easy to use, cheap, and has held up reasonable well. Mine doesn't take movies, so you'll have to research which cameras even do that. You may find that the quality of movies on digital cameras isn't quite what you are looking for. The technology is still in it's infancy, which is why there are still digital recording devices still on the market. If you want to take video, you are better off getting a digital recorder that can take still photos. The price range is quite different, but you need to assess what the main priority of the camera is going to be.
