What would be the best way to cause digital artifacting on DV?
I am working on a video project. My goal is to artifact my shots beyond recognition.
If you know anything about how artifacts are created or have any suggestions at all, your input is greatly appreciated.

I would look for this effect as an post-production edit. I don't think you can accomplish this on-camera. Sharpening. Making dupes and saving them. Cutting down quality. Want to artifact out turn it into the lowest quality Real media file you can! Video editing software will have various filters.
Adobe Premiere or Ulead MediaStudio Pro will work fine.
I would use an "average" filter, set to max, this will blur it a lot. Then apply a "grain" filter. This will give it a 16mm film look.
Also there are various color filters, for muting and adjusting.
