jvc I think it was JVC........ It was a big mother, consisting of a hand held camera and a cable going to a VCR that you carried on a sling. Tokyo, Aug 5, 2006 (JCN) - Hitachi has released the unique "Hybrid Camera Wooo DZ-HS303" which embeds both an HDD and DVD Drive inside the camcorder.

A DZ-HS303 powers Hitachi's 8cm DVD Drive for its recording and play media, while the HDD of fine recording up to 3 hours and standard recording of 6 hours.

Recorded images can be edited within the camcorder, while videos can be dubbed in whole or in part directly onto the DVD as well

30,000 DZ-HS303 camcorders will be available from August 30, in silver and deep blue. The price is open price.

DVD-RAM may not be ready for a close-up with consumers, but it's at least prepared for a bit part.

Hitachi America announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which ends Tuesday, that it will have a DVD-RAM camcorder on retail shelves by the end of January.

According to Hitachi, the DZ-MV100A will be the first camcorder on the market that records images onto a digital versatile disc.

But first won't necessarily spell success.

Dataquest analyst Mary Craig said she believes consumer demand will lag until the price of the camcorder and DVD-RAM discs comes down.
