Goodluck A lot depend on the format you want. If you want a mini DVD the Sony Handi-Cam would be good, and it's usually about $350. Also most Mini-DVD can connected via USB to your computer. There are also Mini-DV, which is a small digital tape, you cal also record onto and SD with most of these cameras. Not only do these cameras take digital video but they have an option for taking digital stills also. They will have a cable that can be plugged into the USB port on your computer, and downloaded for editing. these cameras usually run anywhere from $200 to $350 depending on the brand and if it on sale. At Target I know they have a Samsung Mini-DV on sale for $179.00. If budget is your concern, choose Mini-DV format. Generally it is cheaper than DVD and harddisk format. The tape can be re-used. It is also smaller than DVD-R/RW format.
There are a lot camcorder under $350. Check them out in Best Buy or other retail store. I have Samsung SC-D363 for less than $200 and I am happy.
