What is meant by "camcorder"? How is it different from a "camera?

camcorder (a concocted word from camera and video recorder) is for digital video (moving) film

camera is usually for stills but some can take short video clips too Technically, a camcorder has built-in media (tape, DVD, etc.). A camera has to be hooked up to a recording medium.

But the terms are used synonymously nowadays. Camera recorder. It records a motion picture, whereas a regular camera captures still shots. cam coder.. is something like camera recorder and camera is just camera though camera this days are preety cool and can be transformed into a cam coder as well Camcorder records video and probably takes pictures.
