Video Camcorder for a 65 year old man?

I want to purchase a video camera for my father who will be 65 in February. It has to be something that won't be too hard for him to understand. He likes mechanical things, but he does not own a computer, so it cannot be anything he has to hook up to a computer. Is there anything you would recommend that would be simple for him to use that he can use on video tapes? He does have a VCR. I want one that isn't too cheap and not too expensive. I would like some opinions on brand names that will last and any recommendations and to battery life etc. Thank you in advance.

Well, My I got My dad who is 72 an RCA it holds a regular vcr tape and is as simple to operate as pushing a button, the battery actually last along time about 6 hours of use on a charge, however these types are verry old. i searched the local pawn shops untuil i found one, ( i dont think they make these styles new anymore) However the big problem with these are that they are big, bulky, and i imagine pretty heavy for an older person ( they weigh maybe 5-7 pounds, not like the new ones of today. but like i said my dad is 72 he has no computer and no desire of getting one. he isnt to good at electronics he dosnt own a dvd player and i still have to program all his tv and vcr's for him... But he really enjoys the camera, hope this helps you I think there is one where as they are filming it reminds him to take a vitamin.
