Can you convert digital video cassette to upload onto a computer.?
i just bought a 'sony handycam DCR-HC28' i want to be able to edit and upload my footage onto my PC but dont know how. there is no cable to hook it up to a PC. only cables to hook it up to a VHS/DVD recorder. i'm doing a lot of skateboarding footage and want to figure out how to get my footage onto my PC. do i need to get a special DVC (digital video cassette) editor? and if so please help me get pointed in the right direction. thanks

No you don't. All you need is a firewire. Go on amazon and buy one. Hook one end to your camera and the other to your pc. From there you can use whatever program you want to upload and edit the footage. you'll probably need a Video Capture Device (Dazzle, or Adaptec Videoh). These are USB devices that you connect to your computer and your camera or VCR. THey allow you to transfer the video to your PC. Yeah, the camera you got is a dv (digital video) camera so chances are it will have some sort of usb or firewire output so you can connect it to your pc. The good thing about this is that you don't need to record it through vhs.
Your computer will also need a firewire input for you to be able to connect it and you will also need a firewire wire.
