Camcorder question?
Im looking at buying a camcorder but im not sure what to get. The digital camcorders are cheaper but are they as good quality as the dvd ones? witch do you recomend, digital or dvd?

For me it is MiniDV (thats tape) everytime.
First because it stores the video at much higher quality - so you are off to a better start. MiniDV saves on tape at DVavi quality about as high as you can get in domestic type camcorders. DVD camcorders save video as mpeg which is a compressed format in order to get a decent amount of video on a disc - mpeg video is not particularly easy to edit - although there are a few programmes which make a passable attempt.
A MiniDV tape holds an hour of video - most camcorder DVDs only hold 20 minutes - so when you go on holiday you need to carry three times as many DVDs as tapes.
It is very easy to transfer from a miniDV to a computer - lots of people have problems with the DVD ones - just search through some of the questions on here..
Finally the popular misconception that you cannot view your video instantly with miniDV - RUBBISH - every MiniDV camcorder I have come across can be plugged straight into you TV and your video and shown immediately - you do not have to have a DVD player of a VHS VCR
~ I got a dvd camcorder and I don't recommend anyone to buy these types (dvd). They're prone to error, and what you thought would have been a nice video of your precious moments may turn out to be nothing but a defective record or an empty disc.
Buy a mini DV with high resolution and high optical zoom. Must be very portable, too Sony DCR VX2000. Best you can reasonably buy, hands down. Look them up on eBay. Broadcast quality video, SUPER stereo audio, very user friendly and they look really cool. The VX1000 is available for a few hundred dollars cheaper, but doesn't have the flip out LCD screen. Both use the mini-DV tape which is far superior to the DVD.
They are a bit expensive, around $1200 for the VX2000, and around $600 for the VX1000. Save up some money - they are definately worth it!
